518 Day Community Celebrations

Tri-County United Way proudly celebrates the profound impact of 518 Day throughout the entire month of May, honoring the communities we serve. This annual event unites our service area to recognize collective achievements and give back to those in need. May serves as a powerful reminder of the core values of compassion and service that bind us together. It is a time to acknowledge the dedication of individuals who tirelessly work to improve our communities. Throughout the month, we challenge people of all ages and backgrounds to volunteer, engage, and donate to causes they are passionate about—whether it’s supporting families, assisting students in need, caring for seniors, or helping local partner agencies. Together, we make a difference.

Grains & Pasta

  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Rice (white, brown, or instant)
  • Quinoa or couscous
  • Oatmeal and breakfast cereals

Protein & Pantry Staples

  • Peanut butter and other nut butters
  • Shelf-stable milk (boxed or powdered)
  • Canned or dried lentils
  • Nuts and seeds

Convenience & Ready-to-Eat Items

  • Mac & cheese (boxed)
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Ramen or instant noodles
  • Meal kits (just-add-water items)

Snacks & Kid-Friendly Items

  • Granola bars and protein bars

  • Applesauce cups or fruit snacks

Baking & Cooking Essentials

  • Flour and sugar

  • Salt, pepper, and basic spices

  • Items should be unopened, unexpired & in good condition
  • Avoid glass containers if possible
  • No perishable or homemade items
  • Stay in your vehicle when you arrive and we’ll unload your items for you
