Warren/Washington RSVP

AmeriCorps Seniors

The mission of Warren/Washington RSVP is to engage men and women 55 and older in meaningful volunteer service that strengthens the well-being of both self and community. We provide a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and assist our members in finding the right assignment—one that suits their skills and interests. We partner with non-profit organizations in the community by providing them with volunteers who put to use their talents and knowledge in an effort to help fulfill the organization’s goals.

About RSVP

  • RSVP finds new volunteers and matches them with opportunities, both ours and our Community Partners.
  • RSVP helps existing volunteers be aware of opportunities, new and current and,
  • RSVP assists our Community Partners in finding volunteers to meet their needs.

Currently we inform potential volunteers of opportunities through Facebook and initial interviews with staff, paid and volunteer.  We also use our quarterly newsletters to alert existing volunteers of new opportunities. To learn more, visit our here: RSVP Summer Newsletter.

Warren/Washington RSVP’s Medical Transportation Program provides senior community members with transportation services to medical, dental, eye appointments as well as lab and prescription pick-ups. The service is 100% volunteer driven and funded by Americorps, the Mary McClellan Foundation, the Warren/Hamilton Office of the Aging, NYS Office of the Aging, and the Conkling Center. Without this transportation, many would not access vitally needed medical services, especially in the rural areas of our communities.

Who Volunteers?

People from ALL walks of life. If you are 55 years of age or older, planning the next phase of your life, and wishing to make an impact on the community then RSVP is your resource to finding that fulfilling and interesting volunteer opportunity.

Warren/Washington RSVP’s Osteobusters Program is a volunteer-led strength and balance exercise program designed to help older adults build muscle, improve bone health, and reduce the risk of falls. Classes are offered throughout our communities and are led by trained senior volunteers who are passionate about promoting healthy aging. The program is supported through community partnerships and funding sources that make it accessible and free for participants. By providing safe, structured exercise opportunities close to home, Osteobusters helps older adults maintain independence, confidence, and overall well-being.
