Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

VITAThe Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is a program supported by the IRS that puts money back in your pocket by saving the cost of paying for tax preparation. Individuals with an income of approximately $53,000 or less are eligible to have their federal and state income taxes prepared by an IRS-certified volunteer for free. Each volunteer has been trained to be sure that your taxes are prepared so that you receive an accurate return, that you receive all the credits to which you are entitled and that it is prepared in a timely manner. When completed, your returns are submitted electronically for faster refunds.  Last year, VITA was responsible for bringing $2.6 million in federal and state tax refunds back to Warren and Washington county residents.
