Glens Falls, NY – Tri-County United Way is thrilled to unveil a series of engaging events throughout May, dedicated to recognizing and supporting the 518 communities it serves. This month-long celebration aims to unite communities, honor collective achievements, and extend a helping hand to those in need. For information on how to get involved, please contact Director of Community Engagement, Laura Jensen, at [email protected] or (518) 793-3136 ext. 102.

The series of events kicks off with an ‘Intergenerational 518 Day Community Walk’ in partnership with the Feeder Canal Alliance on Saturday, May 11, from 11 am to 1 pm. This family-friendly event is open to the public and features music and entertainment by DJ Young Pete. Attendees must register in advance by May 6th at www.tricountyunitedway.org.

Other events include the ‘Pump It Forward Challenge’ on Wednesday, May 15, at Cobble Pond Farms Sunoco in Queensbury, NY, where customers can support Tri-County United Way by having their gas pumped by staff and volunteers between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. Cobble Pond Farms has also graciously pledged to donate 5¢ per gallon of gas throughout the hour. Donations will be collected as well for Tri-County United Way throughout the month of May.

On Friday, May 17, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, Tri-County United Way will be hosting a Fundraiser & Mixer sponsored by Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company, Glens Falls Hospital and Hudson Headwaters Health Network at Common Roots Brewing Company in South Glens Falls, supporting the organization’s mission, particularly its network of partner agencies serving youth, seniors, and those with mental health challenges. All proceeds collected will directly benefit Tri-County United Way’s mission. Attendees are $65 per person and attendees must register in advance by May 10th at www.tricountyunitedway.org.

The celebration culminates on Saturday, May 18, with the Tri-County United Way virtual ‘5-1-8 Day of Caring & Sharing’ FUNDrive, encouraging donations and positive social media messages using #TCUWCares. Participants can donate at www.tricountyunitedway.org.

In addition to hosting a number of community events, several dozen non-profit organizations, schools and businesses will participate in the ‘United In Kindness’ initiative. Each organization will be collecting food, toiletry items, and funds to support Tri-County United Way’s local partners. Schools and youth will participate in the movement by writing notes and cards of kindness and appreciation for the region’s senior populations.

Tri-County United Way recognizes May as a time for reflection on the values of compassion and service that bind us together, recognizing the efforts of individuals dedicated to enhancing our communities. Throughout the month of May Tri-County United Way will be encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to volunteer, engage, and donate to causes they care about, from supporting families and individuals in need to caring for senior citizens and backing local partner agencies.
