Sixth Annual Stuff the Bus Food Drive Collects 8.34 Tons of Food for Area Pantries

November 7, 2019 (Queensbury, NY):  The Sixth Annual Stuff the Bus Food Drive held November 1-2 at Price Chopper/Market 32, Queensbury, raised 8.34 tons of food to benefit 20 food pantries in Warren, Washington and Northern Saratoga Counties.  That’s double the amount of food collected in 2018!

“This annual event is a kick-off to the holiday season when many people are looking for ways to give back to their communities and they did just that!” exclaims Duane Vaughn, Executive Director of the Tri-County United Way.  “More than 100 volunteers helped out during the two-day food drive and hundreds more in preparing the event.  Most importantly, this food will go a long way in helping those who are feeling the pressure of wanting to prepare a holiday meal for their family.”

“So many people and businesses were involved in the success of this year’s event.” says Mark Donahue, President and CEO of CWI, Inc. “Special thanks to the 65 area businesses and agencies who hosted food collection sites prior to the food drive, Price Chopper/Market 32 for being the host sponsor for the sixth consecutive year and their staff who provided outstanding support throughout.  Additionally, 75 CWI program participants and staff delivered and picked up the food collection bins at the businesses, prepackaged food bags to sell to customers to donate before and during the event at Price Chopper/Market 32 as well as the CWI Transit Connection team for organizing vehicles used to collect food donations.”

We’d also like to recognize our additional sponsors including NBT Bank, Stored Tech, Jaeger & Flynn Associates, Glens Falls National Bank & Trust Company, G&S Printing, Hank’s Quality Flooring, Just-a-Buck Queensbury, M&M Digital Printing, Six Flags Great Escape Theme Park and Lodge, and media sponsors Adirondack Broadcasting’s 107.1 The Point Hits Music, Froggy 100.3 Everything Country and Q101.7 Classic Hits.  We would also like to thank the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company in Hudson Falls, NY for allowing us to use their space to unload donated items for the pantries to pick up on Sunday and Peckham Industries, Inc., Hudson Falls, for weighing our food drive vehicles.
